5 types of internship opportunities for students with no prior work experience

Updated: May 31, 2022

Usually, internships are offered to final-year college students or, for professional courses, the third-year students do internships. Right? Wrong. It is a misconception.

Here's a list of internships that even first-year college students or students who have no prior work experience can do to boost their CV/resume-

1) Campus Ambassador

Most of the student-run organizations/associations (example: MUNs- Model United Nations) are always looking for campus ambassadors. It gives students with no prior experience an opportunity to work for such international organizations. They give students the task of getting registrations for their conferences and spreading the word about the organization(s) via social media.

2) Data Entry

If you're an introvert who is good at MS Excel, then Data Entry is the best option for you. Companies are always looking for data entry interns who can find data from various websites and type it in MS Excel sheets. Don't worry if you don't know how to use excel, there are many Youtube tutorials available and even some certificate courses can be found on various websites.

3) Sales & Marketing

Most of the startups offer sales and marketing internships to students to increase their sales. Usually, such internships have a fixed target and stipend, however, some even provide incentives per sale. It all depends on the company's budget and policies.

4) Graphic designing

If you're familiar with Canva, PicsArt, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop then a Graphic Designing internship would be a good opportunity for you. A student whom I knew had joined the graphic designing team as an intern during her vacation and she ended up getting a permanent offer at the startup she was working for.

5) Content writing

If you can play with words then look no further! Go ahead and apply for a content writing internship! For student interns, it usually includes writing blogs for the company's website and composing captions for social media posts.

Additionally, students can also do various kinds of internships at NGOs. I will post a blog about that as well, so stay tuned!
